Tarih Düşüncesi 4: Tarih Metafizikleri
(Philosophy of History Vol.IV: The Metaphysics of History)

In this study herely named The Metaphysics of History, emerging conditions and causes of the metaphysics of history during New Age of European thought in the 18th and 19th centuries are tackled. The concepts as well as the initial principles of this ripening period of European thought are investigated.
Some of the most important concepts of modern thought and metaphysics of history like reason, freedom, development, the existence or non-existence of meaning in history, collapse, objective and origin problematics are examined in a critical manner and the ways they transformed to social norms are dealt with in large conceptualization. It is also focused on politicization of the meanings of these philosophical terms transformed to social norms, along with the solutions they led to and the problems they caused.
The problem of what kind of a structure a secular universe conception -the modern society feels the need for- should have is evaluated, based on the studiess of well-known philosophers interested in the discipline of history, such as Kant, Hegel, Comte, Marx and also Condorcet, Herder, Spencer, Spengler and Toynbee. The philosophers above and their studies on metaphysics of history, are amongst the most apparent examples which show that the link between philosophy and social problems is very strong. The Industrial Revolution, the Liberal Revolution and the French Revolution which have shaped the modern world in all its aspects, and also the new norms which came out linked to them, as well as the problematic of constituting a new universe conception to overcome the depressions caused by these norms are the driving forces of metaphysics of history.
In today’s world, metaphysics of history is necessary in order to understand why modern thought is dominant, why globalism is easily appropriated and also to find the reasons of loss of identity and means of getting rid of these problems.
