Dergâh Publishing

Dergâh Publishing was established in 1977 in Istanbul. Its aim has been to publish selected works from the Orient, the Occident, the world of Islam on the disciplines of history and literature, the world of thought and different branches of art, as well as texts which bring up important issues and solve problems.

Our central topic has been Turkey with its strengths and weaknesses. Our serials are based on the following topics: Turkish literature, Turkish classics, contemporary Turkish thought, contemporary Islamic thought, history, philosophy, Anatolian library, Erzurum library, communication...

A great part of the published books are prepared to be used at university education and are composed of the studies of academicians.

Most of the books published on the disciplines of history, economics and theology are used as textbooks in most of our universities. More than three hundred books have been published so far. Besides encyclopedic works, Dergâh particularly prefers to publish “collected works” of writers.

Collected works of distinguished writers such as Nurettin Topçu, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kaplan, Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, Abdülhak Hamid Tarhan, Ömer Seyfettin, Ahmet Haşim, Prof. Dr. İnci Enginün, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kara, Prof. Dr. İsmail Kara, Prof. Dr. Teoman Duralı, Prof. Dr. Hüsrev Hatemi, Associate Prof. Ayhan Bıçak, Mustafa Kutlu were published.

Also, by publishing the works of selected men of thought like Prof. Dr. Orhan Okay, Prof. Dr. Süleyman Uludağ, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Yaşar Ocak, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tabakoğlu, Prof. Dr. Ali Birinci, Prof. Dr. Vecdi Akyüz, Prof. Dr. Bilge Seyidoğlu, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Atilla Şentürk, Associate Prof. Ahmet Kartal, Prof. Dr. Haluk İpekten, Prof. Dr. Sıtkı Aras, Associate. Prof. Fazıl Gökçek, Associate Prof. Alev Sınar, Dr. Mustafa Kök, Prof. Dr. Yavuz Demir, Prof. Dr. Yavuz Akpınar, Yılmaz Tezkan, Dergâh has contributed to the cultural life of Turkey.

Besides academic works, art books ranging from poetry to essays, novels, plays, autography and travel are published. A project named “Award books” was held in commemoration of our authors, -some of whom have passed away- who have contributed to our academic, cultural and art life. Dergâh Publishing strives to introduce the classic works of the Eastern, Western and Islamic world to the Turkish reader. Also, a monthly art and literature periodical called Dergâh is being published without interruption since March 1990.
